We all know the feeling when you are speaking or voicing out something, and get shut down at some point. From all the recent events here in the Philippines especially about literacy, explanation and response in general, it is truly saddening we still see the same thing.
The Bottomline
It is easy and convenient to feel the same way because of how we perceive these kinds of discussion in a single spectrum only, not understanding the underlying reasons why we face the same problem over and over; and probably this is a cultural thing here in the Philippines.
There is Filipino hospitality, the grit of a Filipino and Pinoy Pride thing, which highlights the good qualities of a Filipino and it’s culture, but it’s destructive qualities of a Filipino hasn’t got much of a highlight than it should be. Such example are the Mob Mentality and TL;DR habit.
The Mob Mentality Problem
Just because something is convenient to you and others if you do not question things in life, it doesn’t mean it is the right thing to do. We have been conditioned by the Laws of Nature to agree to the views and opinions of our relatives. This is where the Silencing or shutting down the argument happen because the truth is hard to believe once you have been conditioned to believe in something and told to you over and over.
One would ask, well protesting is Mob Mentality too right?
Protesting can be considered as a result of the Mob Mentality, but Protesting is all about expression of disapproval toward a management with rational explanation, that usually occurs in a political setting with other people whom you never even met once in life. The Mob Mentality on the other hand focuses about adaptation of certain behaviors in relation to the peers and relationships a person is in, usually on a basis of emotions.
Protesting is Rational, Mob Mentality is not.
Overcoming this no easy feat, because this naturally faces you to be out of the circle and the comfort of knowing people back you up about something they believe in. Once you get the hang of it, it feels comforting and natural to overcome irrationality. I had this personal conflict with some of my relatives due to the differences in beliefs, mainly Religious Beliefs.
I’ll tell my story of why I became a skeptic of Religion at some point in the future. Keep an eye on that!
People tend to skip the details
I admit, I also do this sometimes whenever I feel the details are not important, but in some occasions this can be harmful.
Take the pandemic situation here in the Philippines for example. Currently the pandemic response in the Philippines is heavily lackluster and criticized especially with the Delta Variant Community Transmission; and some people rely on heresays of the government officials with no rational explanation and projections of confusing data to present that the pandemic situation in the Philippines isn’t as dire as the media portray it to be.
A Summary of the Pandemic Situation in the Philippines
At this moment, there are almost 190,000 active CoVID-19 Cases, with more than 26,000 daily cases in the Philippines and nearing 30% Positivity Rate on testing results, this is a dire situation at the very least, because even though most of the cases are asymptomatic and mild, the transmission mechanisms are still there and can sometimes mistaken for a flu.
We CANNOT let local transmissions happen because we have not reached the HERD Immunity threshold target of 90% in proportion to the Total Population of the Community.
Well, why not vaccinate these people you may ask? Some individuals cannot take the Vaccine because of age, complications (such as Cancer, AIDS), or the community does not have access to the Vaccines due to logistical, financial and also political reasons.
Problems such as lackluster testing, almost non-existent Contact Tracing and, Slow roll-outs of the Vaccines in the community resulting to postponement on opening of classes, crumbling economical situation and overcapacity of hospitals.
Hearing about the news that only 4 countries left in the world had not opened schools in the world, becoming 2 at the end of September. This Crisis won’t end in the country with the incompetence we are facing on a daily basis; and we need to Voice out this underlying issue.

Recently, there is footage of a Certain Presidential Spokesperson berating expert health professionals that we should not open up the communities and economies due to the data projected, but this happened.
The government want to ease up the quarantine measures even with the situation at hand which resulted to this mess. Mind you this is a Presidential Spokesperson.
The sad thing is, these kinds of “Leaders” are in High ranking Government Official. I mean, Boxer with no prior policy-making experience, government background, A comedian, A literal servant of a senator, and Generals are a common sight. With the probe on going about the Overpriced PPE’s and Equipment, there are things about to unravel in front of the Filipino People.
I digress, it is a Good Time now to be critical about the situation we have now because in the end, we would end up suffering as people under the management of people who fell out of touch with it’s countrymen. It’s nearing 2 years and the situation hasn’t gone any better.
These people are actually willing to jeopardize the already lackluster response to the pandemic just because of personal quarrel and agendas, Just a Shame.
People are under the crossfire in this one hell of a show.
To conclude, we need Voices, we need more People to Speak out about the Situation we are in right now. Staying silent only leads to more oppression and marginalizes the people. It saddens me that not a lot of people don't realize that voicing out one’s concerns is the best thing you can do if you feel you do not have the power to influence a change.
The best description I can visualize is the rippling of water. One person voice out the problems and concerns they face, eventually at some point people would understand the situation at hand.
Now, I have a Challenge for the Reader.
Are there feelings or inside you that you want to open up or show it to others? There is never a wrong or right time to do so. The mistake is and letting the fear get a hold over you.
If you ever have dreams and ambitions in life you want to achieve but people disagree with you? Voice it out! In a respectable manner of course. Make them realize why you need to choose your own path.
Well, I have been pretty frustrated about what is happening right now in the Philippines and I ranted a bit about the incompetency of some government officials, because they could’ve done something right but no. Also, apologies on the lack of insights of the past month due to me contracting COVID
Anyways, that is all for now. I hope I have imparted some novel knowledge to you and see you on the next Insight!
